1. Acceptance and eligibility
By creating an account, accessing, or using Quad, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old and complete the age check in the app. You must be a student or otherwise eligible at a supported campus and use a school email address that you are authorized to use. Quad is intended for users in the United States. You may not use the Service if you have been removed from it or if applicable law prohibits you from doing so.
2. Your account
You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in information and device secure. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. Do not share your account, impersonate someone else, or create an account to evade a block, suspension, or removal.
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account if we believe you violated these Terms or pose a risk to the Service or other people. Where appropriate, we may provide notice and a way to contact us.
3. The Service and campus access
Quad lets eligible members of a campus post and reply in public, view public profiles, send one message request with optional context, and chat after the recipient accepts. We may change, add, or remove features and may limit campus availability.
Campus access is based on a school email check. It is not a background check, identity verification, proof of enrollment, or a guarantee that a person is safe or who they say they are. You are responsible for your interactions and for deciding what to share and whether to meet anyone in person.
Quad is not an emergency service. If you or someone else may be in danger, contact local emergency services. Reports and blocks are tools within the Service; they do not replace emergency assistance.
4. Fees and purchases
The current version of Quad is offered without charge. If we introduce paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases, we will disclose the price, billing period, renewal terms, and cancellation method before you are charged, and we will update these Terms.
Purchases made through an app store are also subject to that store’s terms. Billing, cancellation, and refunds for those purchases are handled by the applicable store unless the store’s rules say otherwise. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription you purchased through a store.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you create, such as posts, replies, requests, messages, profile details, and avatars you select. By posting or sending content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, format, and otherwise use that content as needed to operate, provide, secure, and improve the Service, and to enforce these Terms.
This license ends when your content is deleted, except for copies retained in backups, copies others may have saved, and records we must keep for legal or safety reasons. You represent that you have the rights needed to share your content and that it does not violate these Terms or the rights of others.
Your display name is a public identity you choose. It is not a legal name, and we do not verify it as one.
6. Community rules
Quad works only if people can speak openly and still feel safe. You may not use the Service to:
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or bully anyone, or encourage others to do so.
- Publish someone else’s private information without permission, including addresses, phone numbers, financial information, or private images.
- Impersonate a person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation or identity.
- Post spam, scams, deceptive promotions, or repetitive unwanted contact.
- Post sexual content involving minors, non-consensual intimate imagery, or content that exploits or endangers anyone.
- Post illegal content or use the Service for illegal activity.
- Upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorized access, scrape the Service, or interfere with its operation.
- Bypass a block, suspension, or other safety measure, or encourage someone else to do so.
- Use another person’s account or share your account with someone else.
You can report content or accounts and block people from the relevant menu. Blocking applies across Campus, ends pending requests, and stops new messages. We may review reports, remove content, restrict features, or close accounts. We are not obligated to monitor all content, and removing one item does not require us to remove others. If you believe a decision was wrong, contact us.
7. Message requests and chats
A message request may include one opening message and the public thread that led to it. The recipient decides whether to accept. A request does not create a chat until it is accepted, and in the current version a declined or withdrawn request cannot be resent.
Do not use requests or chats to send content that violates these Terms, to contact someone who has blocked you, or to pressure someone for a response. We do not guarantee that anyone will read, accept, or reply to a request, or that a conversation will lead to a friendship, date, or any other outcome.
8. Our intellectual property
The Service, including the Quad name, logo, pixel artwork, design, software, and other materials we provide, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from our materials except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
9. Third-party services and app stores
The Service may rely on third-party services and may link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or practices. Your use of a third-party service is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
If you download Quad from the Apple App Store, you also agree to Apple’s applicable terms. Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Quad. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Any claims relating to the app store are subject to that store’s terms.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful content, or that any information on the Service is accurate or complete.
We do not guarantee matches, replies, friendships, dates, or any particular outcome. A campus email check does not guarantee that a person is safe, who they claim to be, or affiliated with the campus. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, loss of goodwill, or the conduct of other users, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim or the minimum amount required by law.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including rights you may have as a consumer.
12. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of another person.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to the arbitration section below, the state and federal courts located in Delaware will have jurisdiction over disputes that are not subject to arbitration.
14. Dispute resolution and arbitration
Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes are resolved.
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and we agree to resolve it through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, with one arbitrator, in Wilmington, Delaware. The arbitrator may award the same relief that a court could award, subject to these Terms and applicable law.
Class action waiver. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you and we waive the right to bring or participate in any class, collective, consolidated, or representative action. Disputes must be brought individually. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over a class or representative proceeding.
This section does not prevent either party from bringing an individual claim in small-claims court, seeking injunctive or other equitable relief in court to protect intellectual-property rights or prevent unauthorized use, or exercising rights that cannot be waived under applicable law. If this arbitration section is found unenforceable, the remaining Terms will continue to apply.
You may opt out of this arbitration section by emailing us within 30 days after you first accept these Terms, with “Arbitration opt-out” in the subject line and your display name and campus. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or on this page before they take effect, where required. The “Last updated” date shows when these Terms were last revised. Your continued use after the effective date means the updated Terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
